Schematic Mod is the name most players use for Litematica, a free, client-side Minecraft mod that loads a saved build as a see-through hologram so you can rebuild it block by block. It saves any area you select into a .litematic file, shows exactly which blocks go where, and counts every material you still need.
Developer masa (maruohon) started Litematica on Minecraft 1.12.2 as a LiteLoader alternative to Schematica for players who did not want Forge. It moved to Rift on 1.13.2 and to Fabric from 1.14 onward, and it has followed every major release since, up to the 26.1 line.
Its job is simple: remove guesswork from big builds. Instead of counting blocks off a screenshot, you place a ghost copy of the design in your world and fill it in, with the mod warning you about wrong or missing blocks as you go.

Litematica cannot run on its own. Download MaLiLib for the exact same Minecraft version and put it in the same mods folder, then restart.
Make sure you launched the Fabric profile, not vanilla. If another mod uses M, rebind the main menu key under Configuration, Hotkeys.
Rendering may be toggled off. Press M + R, or open the placement and check that rendering is enabled for it.

Most crashes come from a version mismatch between Minecraft, Fabric Loader, Litematica and MaLiLib. Update the Fabric loader, make sure both mod files target the same Minecraft version and remove duplicate jars. If it still crashes, read the latest crash report, which usually names the conflicting mod clearly.
Check that rendering is on with M + R and that the placement itself is enabled in the Schematic Placements list. Also confirm you are in the right dimension and near the origin coordinates. Some shader packs hide translucent blocks, so try again with shaders turned off if the hologram still refuses to show up.

Yes, in most cases. Litematica can read older .schematic files and vanilla .nbt structures, and newer builds also load Sponge .schem files from WorldEdit.
